From Student Caller to Lifelong Supporter

When Logan first arrived at the University of Louisville, he didn’t expect to work in a call center, let alone have it shape his future.

Like many students, he realized early on that college came with real financial responsibilities. Looking for a flexible job, he found the phonathon through a campus job fair. What started as a practical decision quickly became one of the most impactful experiences of his college career.

“At first, I was nervous talking on the phone,” Logan said. “But it helped me get over that fear and build confidence.”

Over a year and a half, Logan grew from a caller into a student supervisor. More importantly, he discovered the power of connection. Through conversations with alumni, some who graduated decades ago, he gained insight, perspective and even unexpected opportunities, like meeting a fellow fraternity member who later gave him a personal tour of Phoenix.

Those conversations also deepened his understanding of philanthropy. As a scholarship recipient himself, Logan saw firsthand how donor support made his education possible. And in the call center, he witnessed the impact from the other side, hearing why alumni chose to give and where they directed their gifts.

“It was exciting to know where those donations were going, especially when they supported things I was involved in,” he said.

Today, Logan works in a client-facing role at Fidelity, using many of the same communication skills he developed at UofL. But his connection to the university hasn’t changed.

Now a young alumnus, he continues to give back because he understands both sides of the call.

“I’ve been that student making the calls,” he said. “I know what it means.”

For Logan, giving isn’t just about supporting a university. It’s about ensuring future Cardinals have the same opportunities, and experiences, that shaped his own journey.
